Low Rent Zapruder operates as Zalongo’s arthouse counterpart, also under the direction of Anthony Akapnitis. The two projects maintain a close, reciprocal relationship, each providing a creative outlet that balances the other’s impulses. While Zalongo frames its work through a rock‑driven approach with experimental tendencies, Low Rent Zapruder approaches the concert hall ethos with DIY sensibility and performance immediacy that come from its rock‑rooted origins.

low rent zapruder is a broad, multi‑modal creative entity encompassing several distinct arms: an improvisation based ensemble shaped by a rotating musicians; a contemporary music and multimedia ensemble oriented toward concert hall presentation, often times utilizing the art work and collaborative creativity of local artists; and a continually expanding body of re-scored films, recontextualized video works, and original multi media works where everything from the music, visuals, editing, and production is done in-house.

 

Outside of their work in the creative process, The project also develops original cut driven visual pieces for artists and bands, defined by a recognizable approach to editing, pacing, and narrative abstraction.
